Narang Kavum is a flavorful variation of traditional Sri Lankan oil cakes. It offers a unique balance of sweetness and mild tanginess, with a soft interior and a lightly crisp outer layer. Made with Rice flour, kithul treacle, coconut, cardamom and coconut oil for frying. No artificial sugars, colors, flavors or preservatives.
A thick batter is prepared by combining rice flour with kithul treacle. The mixture is blended until smooth. Spoonfuls of the batter are then poured into the coconut bolls that we made earlier and dip into the hot coconut oil and carefully shaped while frying. The Kavum are turned continuously until they achieve a golden-brown color and a soft, moist texture inside. Narang Kavum is commonly prepared during Sinhala and Tamil New Year and other festive gatherings. Its perfect for serving with tea or offering to guests during celebrations.
