Konda Kavum is one of the most iconic Sri Lankan sweets, made from rice flour and sweetened with treacle. It has a soft interior and a slightly crisp outer layer. Made with using, Rice flour, kithul treacle, salt, suduru Maduru and coconut oil. Also no artificial sugars, colors, flavors & preservatives.
A thick batter is prepared using rice flour and treacle. Spoonfuls of the batter are poured into hot oil and carefully shaped while frying. The Konda Kavum are turned repeatedly until they become evenly cooked and golden brown. Konda Kavum is a traditional delicacy prepared mainly for Sinhala and Tamil New Year and other cultural celebrations. It symbolizes prosperity and hospitality.
